SOLEDAD -- Soledad Unified School District took action at its May 8 Board of Trustees meeting to appoint Dr. Rupi Boyd as the new superintendent for the district.
The board invites community members to join them on June 3 at 3:30 p.m. at the high school's cafeteria to welcome the arrival of Boyd. Refreshments will be served.

SOLEDAD -- Liberty Daycare/Preschool students participated in a Trike-A-Thon to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Tennessee last Friday. They had eight students ranging from 3- to 5-year-olds participate in a week-long program where they learned riding safety skills.

SACRAMENTO -- Assembly Bill 1080, legislation for Community Revitalization and Investment Authorities, passed the Assembly Committee on Local Government with unanimous bipartisan support. The bill, which was introduced by Assemblyman Luis Alejo in February, would allow certain disadvantaged areas of California to create a new entity called a Community Revitalization Investment Authority.
