Students celebrate ‘100 Days of School’

The San Vicente and Gabilan students sit with 100 helium balloons as a visual reference of the number 100 during their ‘100-Days of School’ celebration at San Vicente School. - Each student from San Vicente and Gabilan School wore special headdresses they made for themselves for the ‘100-Days of School’ celebration at San Vicente School.

SOLEDAD – Last Friday the first-grade students of San Vicente and Gabilan Schools came together to celebrate their first 100 days of school.

The ceremony was not just a celebration of days; it was also a celebration of the number 100. The students all wore some sort of hat or headdress they had made and decorated for the celebration.

While in art many of the classes created a banner with 100 objects on it, some grouped in 10s or 20s. These banners were hung in the multi purpose room and other places.

Retired Teacher, Mary Beth Orser, was in charge of the ceremony, which is a 20-year tradition.

Controlling a room full of first-grade students can be difficult, but Orser and the teachers had a secret weapon, which was 100 helium balloons for a giant visual reference of 100.
