Soup helps church stay afloat

Soup, a welcome, warming, comfort food for a cold winter day in Gonzales, was scooped up by volunteers and poured lovingly into bowls for guests last Wednesday.

“We are doing this fundraiser to keep the church in operation,” said Gonzales Presbyterian Community Church Pastor Ed Lee. “Like all institutions that depend on contributions to say afloat, this is necessary. We’ve been hurt by the economic slow down, as all charitable institutions have. We need this to keep going.”

The larger Presbyterian Church has given disaster assistance by several hundred thousand, and, according to Lee, the local church was called to help and they have done so.
